Who likes to save money? Um... this girl! This is going to be the first post of many on how we save money in the Morgan household. I'm planning to spread the posts out over a while and mix them with other things, but hopefully, each post will be on a practical way to save money. No offense to you extreme couponers out there... but who has time for that? Not this girl.
Don't get me wrong, Parker & I live comfortably and have been very blessed. We can afford all of our needs and some of our wants (although we don't have crazy expensive wants usually). BUT, with a growing family and a goal of financial stability, we do try to spend money wisely!
So... How we save $, part 1:
Consignment Sales!
Let me back up a minute. Most of Ava Kate's clothes, toys, and stuff have been gifts or hand-me-downs. My cousins have been extremely generous with hand-me-down clothes, bows, and baby stuff. Now that Ava Kate's starting to outgrow a lot of the shower gifts, the next couple sizes of clothes were looking a little less plentiful.
Anyone who has had a baby knows that these little ones outgrow clothes every month. As I was packing some of AK's clothes last weekend to pass on to "Baby Cousin," there were clothes that still had tags on them! There were clothes that I LOVED that AK literally only wore once or twice because she outgrew them so fast! So, this past weekend I was on a mission to score some deals for some bigger size clothes.
Our area has an awesome consignment sale twice a year called the Lil' Pirates Exchange. We went on Thursday night and spent about $40... and then I went back on Sunday afternoon when they mark a lot of the clothes down 50-75% and I spent another $10.
I bought some 6 & 9 month clothes...
All the way up to some 18-24 month clothes....
But my favorite, was the 12 month stash!
So for about $50, I got 22 pieces and a seat protector to go under AK's carseat. Woot! $2ish a dress? I'll take it!
Eventually, when we're done having babies, we can consign our stuff too!
