This year, Parker & I decided to grow our first garden! Neither one of us have ever really gardened before - he's helped his dad and I've helped my grandma, but we really didn't know what we were doing! Anyways, we decided to start small in case it was a total bust and we did a lot of consults with our friend Google... Turns out, we're not half bad!
We went to Lowes one day and got a bunch of cinderblocks, soil/top soil, and seeds. We bought 1 cucumber plant and 1 tomato plant, and the rest we started from the seeds.
We planted green beans, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, watermelon, carrots, basil, and oregano. Unfortunately, 2 days after we planted it monsoon rained with crazy wind and our cucumber plant didn't make it :( Everything else survived (even though it frosted one more night despite the weather man saying we had had our last frost).
The grass started growing up through the holes in the cinderblocks, so we went and got some caps from Lowes and it looks so much better!
We may or may not have danced and high fived each other when things started sprouting... and then again when things started producing!
We finally got our first taste of our amateur gardening experience on our anniversary! We ate green beans from the garden! We've also used some basil since then.
Super proud! We have so much to learn, but hey! I think it's not so bad for our first garden! :)
